Project: Saint Joseph Hospital Emergency Department Renovation/Expansion
Location: Lexington, Kentucky
The Emergency Department at Saint Joseph Hospital completed a renovation and expansion of their existing facility. The renovation involved 16,430 square feet of refinishing 16 treatment areas, cast room and support functions, along with the enclosure of existing trauma units with ICU-type breakaway doors. The expansion entailed the fit-up of 5,375 square feet of adjacent shell space with a holding / observation unit containing 10 beds. The holding unit beds are officially outpatient beds for up to a 23-? hour stay per patient. While this unit shares the same waiting area, registration and triage functions of the main Emergency Department, it is considered a separate suite with its own satellite nurse station and service support rooms. A stress testing lab room is also included within the suite.
