Project: University of Kentucky Medical Center Children’s Hospital

Location: Lexington, Kentucky

This project consisted of the renovation of approximately 23,000 square feet and fit-up of 31,000 square feet to create a Children’s Hospital. Components of the hospital include: a 12-bed pediatric intensive care unit; a Level 3 neonatal intensive care unit; parent sleeping rooms, laundry facilities and a family kitchen; 38 private acute patient care rooms with sleeping and shower facilities for patients; and a new outpatient area for children needing to be admitted for less than 24 hours. Since the Children’s Hospital is located within the existing hospital, a new entrance bridge with entry from the 1st Floor pedway with lobby and express elevator to the 4th Floor was incorporated to give the facility its own unique identity.
